Four Eye Patch Quilting Retreat of May 2002

still more Sunday

Judy and Susan brought snacks for the weekend. ACK!!!! The spinach dip, the seafood dip, the crackers, the Mrs. Field's cookies and those HORRID, HORRID, chocolate-covered raisins that Judy brought are still here. ACK! I'm doomed! Susan's wonderful breads and coffee cake from the incredible bakeries in Berekley didn't even have a crumb left. Personally, I thought the Tibetian bread sticks were particularly tasty to the degree that I might even consider girding my loins to make a foray into Berserkley to get some for myself.

Sunday was winding down and the only thing left to experience was dinner and dessert. :-) It was extremely unfortunate that Susan, Christine and Judy were unable to stay for the extravaganza ... and I know they are going to bash their heads against the wall when they see these pictures. [grin] This was definitely not a low-cal retreat! :-)

The ever-talented and created Debbie offered to cook dinner for Sunday evening. While I do dearly love to eat, I really do not like cooking, so I jump at any chance to avoid the task. Debbie brought over the most amazing pasta-chicken-roasted red peppers-asparagus-Italian-parsley dish in a cheese sauce, accompanied by a drool-a-licious spinach, walnut and dried cranberry salad with balsamic vinegar dressing. Oh, Lordy, Lordy ... I thought I had died and gone to heaven!

Here is Pigley (grinning like fool), Teresa (also in eager anticipation) and Debbie (fixing the salad).

Here's a close-up of Debbie's entree, being superbly framed by the hands of Pigley and Teresa.
And then ... the Dessert. :-)

While I don't care for cooking per se, I do like baking (much more bang for the buck, IYKWIM). When I want to duly impress my guests, one of my better desserts is Julia Child's Bombe aux Trois Chocolats, a chocolate mousse hidden under a chocolate-covered fudge cake dome.

It is wonderful.

It is decadent.

It is chocolate with a vengeance.
