the Internet Quilt

or ... How DID my parents meet?

Computers are an amazing invention. Not only do they allow people to do incredibly stupid things at a very fast rate, but they allow people from all over the world to virtually meet and get to know one another in a way that would have otherwise been impossible for them to do so.

Take, for instance, chat rooms. Ooooohhhhhh.. Chat rooms! We've all heard about them. But in this case, the chat room was for a 1995-1996 TV show, "Space:Above and Beyond", a military-themed science-fiction show that, lamentably, was very short-lived.

Not so the friendships .. and more ... that were forged during this time. One such friendship that was formed was between Harold & Judy; he from Abilene, Texas (at the time) and she from Vancouver, British Columbia. Under normal circumstances, they never would have crossed paths ... but their common interest in this TV show served as the basis of their relationship that was formalized in their marriage in 1999.

The Internet now connects everything and everyone. So, what better quilt block to use for this quilt than a variation of "Snail's Trail"? .... which is sometimes how fast you swear the Internet is going. Please note that all the Snail's Trail blocks connect with each other ... just like information connects the different computers. Wow .. this is just waaaaay too deep for me.

Time to lighten up.

So, how ‘bout the fabric?

Computers!
