The Bank of Lucas, Turner & Co Building
498 Jackson Street
corner of Montgmery & Jackson

This building was built during 1853-1854 and has 2 facades: the Montgomery Street side is finished in a classic Italiante granite front and the Jackson Street side is finished in red brick. Orginally, the red brick was covered with stucco and scored to resemble stone, possibly to coordinate with the Montgomery Street side but without the expense.

William Tecumah Sherman was the first manager of this bank .. yes, the very same man who became a general in the Civil War, burned Atlanta to ashes and marched on towards the sea.
